This study examines the positive contributions of children with developmental disabilities in relation to parental experience. It considers the differences between fathers and mothers, and the effect of the behavioral characteristics of these children on the parental perception of positive contributions. The sample is composed of 306 parents. Two questionnaires were used: The Positive Contribution Scale (PCS), and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). The hypotheses accounting for the differences between fathers and mothers, and for the effect of the behavioral characteristics of the child have been confirmed. The discussion addresses on the parental experience of mothers and fathers, and their relationship with their children.
